Incident Summary:
09/27/2014: Assailants opened fire on a National Guard of Ukraine (NGU) checkpoint near Vuhlehirsk town, Donetsk oblast, Ukraine. Three soldiers were wounded between this and six other attacks on military checkpoints, only some of which were coordinated, in Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts. This incident represents one of 16 coordinated attacks on military personnel in Donetsk on the same day. No group claimed responsibility; however, sources attributed the incident to the Donetsk People's Republic.

Criteria
Criteria 1
The act must be aimed at attaining a political, economic, religious, or social goal. In terms of economic goals, the exclusive pursuit of profit does not satisfy this criterion. It must involve the pursuit of more profound, systemic economic change.
