12/23/2014: Assailants detonated an explosive device at a gas pipeline in Sabeel area, Arish city, North Sinai governorate, Egypt. No casualties were reported, but the pipeline was damaged in the attack. Sinai Province of the Islamic State claimed responsibility for the incident and stated that the attack was carried out in retaliation for Jordan's involvement against the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL).

Criteria
Criteria 1
The act must be aimed at attaining a political, economic, religious, or social goal. In terms of economic goals, the exclusive pursuit of profit does not satisfy this criterion. It must involve the pursuit of more profound, systemic economic change.

Successful Attack
Success of a terrorist strike is defined according to the tangible effects of the attack.
