Incident Summary:

06/09/2015: Assailants opened fire on Altaf Ahmed Sheikh at bus stand in Sopore town, Jammu and Kashmir state, India. Sheikh, a Health ministry employee and Tehreek-e-Hurriyat activist, was killed in the attack. No group claimed responsibility for the incident; however, sources attributed the attack to Lashkar-e-Islam (India). Sources also attributed the attack to Hizbul Mujahideen (HM), which denied involvement and condemned the attack.
