Incident Summary:

07/11/2015: Thirty assailants opened fire on military personnel in Alagatan village, Misamis Oriental province, Philippines. A soldier was killed and four others, including a soldier and two civilians, were injured in the ensuing clash. In addition, an injured soldier and a civilian were taken hostage as human shields. The civilian was released soon after; the whereabouts of the soldier are unknown. The New People's Army (NPA) claimed responsibility and stated that the attack was carried out because they believed that the military breached the law of war.
