Incident Summary:

07/01/2016: Assailants attacked civilians and soldiers between Basak and Balite in North Cotabato, Philippines. At least two assailants were killed when security forces intervened. At least 22 explosive devices were also discovered and defused at the scene. No group claimed responsibility; however, sources attributed the attack to the New People's Army (NPA).
