08/19/2016: Assailants opened fire on military personnel escorting a government convoy in Singawan, Aurora, Philippines. One soldier was killed while two soldiers and an unknown number of assailants were injured in the attack and ensuing clash. No group claimed responsibility for the incident; however, sources attributed the attack to the New People's Army (NPA).

Successful Attack
Success of a terrorist strike is defined according to the tangible effects of the attack. For example, in a typical successful bombing, the bomb detonates and destroys property and/or kills individuals, whereas an unsuccessful bombing is one in which the bomb is discovered and defused or detonates early and kills the perpetrators.
