09/06/2016: Assailants opened fire on Khejan Sonwani at his residence in Komakhan, Chhattisgarh, India. Sonwani, a former deputy sarpanch, was killed in the attack. Maoists claimed responsibility for the incident and accused the victim of being a police informant and embezzling money from tendu leaf deals.
