Incident Summary:

09/22/2016: Assailants opened fire on Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) and Nigerian Army (NA) soldiers in Abadam, Borno, Nigeria. At least 17 people, including two soldiers and 15 assailants, were killed and four other soldiers and several other assailants were injured in the ensuing clash. The Al-Barnawi faction of Boko Haram, also known as the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), claimed responsibility for the attack.
