Incident Summary:

12/15/2016: Assailants equipped with explosives-laden vehicles attacked police forces in Athba, Nineveh, Iraq. This was one of two coordinated assaults on police positions in the area on the same day. Security forces repelled both attacks, killing 22 assailants. No group claimed responsibility for the incidents; however, sources attributed the attacks to the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL).
