Incident Summary:

12/23/2016: Two assailants hijacked an Afriqiyah Airways plane flying from Sabha to Tripoli, Libya. The hijackers diverted the plane to Malta and threatened to detonate explosives if their demands were not met. All 109 passengers and six crew members were safely released and both assailants were arrested when the plane landed at the Malta International Airport. The assailants, Ali Saleh and Moussa Soko, identified themselves as members of Al-Fateh Al-Jadid and stated that the attack was carried out in creation of the new group.
