Incident Summary:
01/02/2017: Two assailants wearing suicide vests opened fire on the Iraqi Police Service (IPS) al-Imam station in Mutasim neighborhood, Samarra, Saladin, Iraq. The assailants were able to overtake the station before they were killed by security forces. This was one of two coordinated attacks on police stations in Mutasim on the same day. At least 11 people, including seven officers and four assailants, were killed in the incidents. The Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) claimed responsibility for the attacks.
