Incident Summary:
02/01/2017: Assailants threw an explosive device and opened fire on the Central Coalfields Limited (CCL) Amrapali Open Cast Project camp in Bhimlat, Jharkhand, India. At least three employees were injured in the assault. According to pamphlets discovered at the scene, the Communist Party of India - Maoist (CPI-Maoist) claimed responsibility for the attack and demanded that the company employ local residents and halt its construction project. The group also accused the company of working with capitalists.

Criteria
Criteria 1
The act must be aimed at attaining a political, economic, religious, or social goal. In terms of economic goals, the exclusive pursuit of profit does not satisfy this criterion. It must involve the pursuit of more profound, systemic economic change.
