Incident Summary:

02/27/2017: Assailants, including suicide bombers driving four explosives-laden vehicles, opened fire on Iraqi Volunteer Forces in the Makhoul Mountains, in Baiji district, Saladin, Iraq. At least 16 assailants were killed as security forces repelled the assault. No group claimed responsibility for the incident; however, sources attributed the attack to the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL).
