Incident Summary:
03/05/2017: A suicide bomber detonated near militia members in Azaz, Aleppo, Syria. In addition to the assailant, at least seven members were killed and an unknown number of other members were injured in the blast. This was one of two suicide bombings in the governorate overnight. The Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) claimed responsibility for the attacks.

Criteria 1
The act must be aimed at attaining a political, economic, religious, or social goal. In terms of economic goals, the exclusive pursuit of profit does not satisfy this criterion. It must involve the pursuit of more profound, systemic economic change.

Successful Attack
Success of a terrorist strike is defined according to the tangible effects of the attack.
