05/20/2017: Assailants abducted nine civilians from Hawijah, Kirkuk, Iraq. The hostages were executed on May 22, 2017. No group claimed responsibility for the incident; however, sources attributed the attack to the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) and stated that the victims were accused of spying for security personnel.
