Incident Summary:

06/27/2017: An explosive device detonated and assailants opened fire on a border police vehicle in Ota, Lamu, Kenya. At least eight people, including four police officers and four students, were killed and five people were injured in the blast. Four students were also abducted in the attack. Two hostages were rescued on June 28, 2017, while the fate of the remaining two hostages is unknown. Al-Shabaab claimed responsibility for the incident.
