06/27/2017: Assailants abducted Cary Marak, a former Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC) chair, near Paikan, Assam, India. Marak was released on June 29, 2017, following the payment of a ransom. No group claimed responsibility for the incident; however, sources attributed the attack to the National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB).
