Incident Summary:

08/22/2017: Assailants opened fire on a temporary military encampment in Marantao, Marantao district, Lanao del Sur, Philippines. At least one assailant was killed and four soldiers were wounded in the attack. The Maute Group claimed responsibility for the attack. Sources also suspected that the attack was meant to stop classes from being held at Mindanao State University.
