Incident Summary:
09/29/2017: A suicide bomber detonated an explosives-laden vehicle and assailants opened fire at a military base in Barire, Lower Shebelle, Somalia. This was one of three related attacks in Barire on this date. In addition to 18 assailants, at least six soldiers were killed and an unknown number of soldiers were injured across two of the assaults. Al-Shabaab claimed responsibility for the incident and stated that the attack was carried out in response to an airstrike conducted by Somali and American security forces in the area on August 25, 2017.
