Incident Summary:

09/28/2017: Assailants abducted Datu Saturnino Gallego, an Indigenous People Mandatory Representative (IPMR) tribal leader, and Citizen Armed Forces Geographical Unit Active Auxiliary (CAA) member Danny Rivas, from their home in Libas Sud, San Miguel Surigao del Sur province, Philippines. Gallego was released on September 29, 2017. The fate of the remaining hostage is unknown. No group claimed responsibility for the incident; however, sources attributed the incident to the New People's Army (NPA).
