Incident Summary:

01/27/2018: Approximately 30 assailants attacked a military camp in Soumpi, Timbuktu, Mali. At least 31 people, including 14 soldiers and 17 assailants, were killed and 18 soldiers were injured in the ensuing clash. Jamaat Nusrat al-Islam wal Muslimin (JNIM) claimed responsibility for the incident.
