Incident Summary:

03/02/2018: A suicide bomber detonated an explosives-laden vehicle and assailants opened fire at a military headquarters in Ouagadougou, Centre, Burkina Faso. This was one of two coordinated attacks in Ouagadougou on this date. Eleven people, including four assailants and seven soldiers, were killed in this incident. Additionally, at least 85 people, including soldiers and civilians, were injured across both assaults. Jamaat Nusrat al-Islam wal Muslimin (JNIM) claimed responsibility for the incidents and stated that the attacks were carried out in retaliation for the killing of Mohamed Hacen al-Ancari, a JNIM leader, in a recent security operation.
