04/08/2018: Assailants shot and killed Hamidou Koundaba, the Koutougou mayor, near his residence in Koutougou, Sahel, Burkina Faso. The Islamic State in the Greater Sahara (ISGS) claimed responsibility for the incident and stated that Koundaba was targeted for his collaboration with the government of Burkina Faso.
