05/17/2018: Assailants fired mortars into Dagmada Xamar Weyne, Mogadishu, Somalia. This was one of three related mortar attacks in Mogadishu on this date. A civilian was killed across the attacks. No group claimed responsibility; however, sources attributed the incidents to Al-Shabaab.

Criteria
Criteria 1
The act must be aimed at attaining a political, economic, religious, or social goal. In terms of economic goals, the exclusive pursuit of profit does not satisfy this criterion. It must involve the pursuit of more profound, systemic economic change.

Successful Attack
Success of a terrorist strike is defined according to the tangible effects of the attack.
