05/18/2018: Assailants detonated an explosive device and opened fire targeting 42nd Infantry Battalion soldiers at Palalian Bridge in Palalian, Zamboanga del Norte, Philippines. At least two soldiers were injured in the blast. The New People's Army (NPA) claimed responsibility for the incident and stated that the attack was carried out in response to military operations targeting the group.
