Incident Summary:
05/20/2018: An explosive device detonated targeting an ATM machine in Nong Chik, Pattani, Thailand. There were no reported casualties. This was one of 18 related attacks that took place in different parts of southern Thailand on this date. No group claimed responsibility for the incidents; however, sources attributed the attacks to the Barisan Revolusi Nasional (BRN).

Criteria 1
The act must be aimed at attaining a political, economic, religious, or social goal. In terms of economic goals, the exclusive pursuit of profit does not satisfy this criterion. It must involve the pursuit of more profound, systemic economic change.

Successful Attack
Success of a terrorist strike is defined according to the tangible effects of the attack.
