Incident Summary:
06/18/2018: Assailants attacked security checkpoints in Qaysar district, Faryab, Afghanistan. This was one of five related attacks in Faryab on this day. At least 14 people, including soldiers and police officers, were killed and two police officers were injured across the attacks. No group claimed responsibility for the incident; however, sources attributed the attack to the Taliban.

Criteria
Criteria 1
The act must be aimed at attaining a political, economic, religious, or social goal. In terms of economic goals, the exclusive pursuit of profit does not satisfy this criterion. It must involve the pursuit of more profound, systemic economic change.

Successful Attack
Success of a terrorist strike is defined according to the tangible effects of the attack.
