09/10/2018: Assailants attacked a police checkpoint in Ziraki, Samangan, Afghanistan. This was one of two coordinated attacks on checkpoints on this date. At least 17 people, including three assailants and 14 security officers, were killed and 10 people, including six security officers and four assailants, were injured across the two attacks. The Taliban claimed responsibility for the incidents.

Criteria 1
The act must be aimed at attaining a political, economic, religious, or social goal. In terms of economic goals, the exclusive pursuit of profit does not satisfy this criterion. It must involve the pursuit of more profound, systemic economic change.

Success of a terrorist strike is defined according to the tangible effects of the attack.
