Incident Summary:

09/14/2018: Assailants stopped a bus along Garissa Ijara road and briefly held the passengers hostage in Handaro, Garissa, Kenya. At least two passengers were shot and killed after they failed to recite passages from the Quran. No group claimed responsibility for the incident; however, sources attributed the attack to Al-Shabaab.
