09/17/2018: Assailants abducted two people at a fake checkpoint on a highway in Riyadh, Kirkuk, Iraq. Wisam Hassan al-Obeidian, a journalist, was shot and killed and his uncle escaped a short time later. No group claimed responsibility; however, sources attributed the attack to the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL).
