12/25/2018: Assailants abducted at least 12 civilians from Mabdad, near Rashad, Kirkuk, Iraq. Six hostages were rescued as of December 31, 2018, and an unknown number of others were released before then. The fate of the remaining hostages remains unknown. This was one of two related attacks near Rashad on this date. The Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) claimed responsibility for the incidents.
