Incident Summary:

01/20/2019: Assailants abducted six people from Kasansur, Maharashtra, India. Three of the hostages were shot and killed on January 22, 2019. The whereabouts of the remaining three hostages are unknown. The Communist Party of India - Maoist (CPI-Maoist) claimed responsibility for the incident and stated that the victims were targeted because they were police informants. Sources stated that the CPI-Maoists targeted the victims in retaliation for the death of over 40 Maoists in April 2018.
