Incident Summary:

02/28/2019: Assailants opened fire on Verande Lardera while he was riding his motorcycle along Sinsuat Avenue in front of Superama Hyper Market in Cotabato City, Maguindanao, Philippines. Lardera, a 37th IB staff sergeant, was killed in the assault. The Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Movement (BIFM) claimed responsibility for the incident and stated that the attack was carried out in retaliation for the death of a BIFM member by the military on 27 February, 2019.
