Incident Summary:
03/29/2019: Assailants equipped with firearms and rocket propelled grenades attacked police checkpoints in Arghanj Khaw district, Badakhshan, Afghanistan. At least 20 people, including eight assailants, were killed and five police officers and an unknown number of assailants were injured in the ensuing clash, which lasted until March 30, 2019. The victims included police officers and civilians. Additionally, five police officers were taken hostage and their whereabouts are unknown. The Taliban claimed responsibility for the incident.

Criteria
Criteria 1
The act must be aimed at attaining a political, economic, religious, or social goal. In terms of economic goals, the exclusive pursuit of profit does not satisfy this criterion. It must involve the pursuit of more profound, systemic economic change.
