Incident Summary:
06/12/2019: Assailants abducted four Bedouin tribal members on a coastal road west of Arish, North Sinai, Egypt. The outcome of the abduction is unknown. This was one of two related abduction attacks in North Sinai on this date. At least three of the hostages taken across both attacks were released on June 14, 2019 while the fate of the remaining victims is unknown. The Sinai Province of the Islamic State claimed responsibility for the attack, stating that the abduction was carried out in search of spies and to demonstrate that the group was still relevant in North Sinai.

Criteria
Criteria 1
The act must be aimed at attaining a political, economic, religious, or social goal. In terms of economic goals, the exclusive pursuit of profit does not satisfy this criterion. It must involve the pursuit of more profound, systemic economic change.
