Incident Summary:

09/23/2019: Assailants ambushed a local football team in Batouma, Mopti, Mali. At least one civilian was killed and several football team members were abducted in the attack. All of the hostages were released the next day. No group claimed responsibility for the incident; however, sources attributed the attack to Jamaat Nusrat al-Islam wal Muslimin (JNIM).
