Incident Summary:
09/26/2019: Assailants opened fire on government soldiers and police officers at the Mountain Ridge in Aguid, Sagada, Mountain Province, Philippines. At least one soldier, identified as Jordan Manawa, was killed and another soldier, identified as Melvin Modes, was injured in the assault. The New People's Army (NPA) claimed responsibility and stated that the attack was meant to be offensive in nature.

Criteria
Criteria 1
The act must be aimed at attaining a political, economic, religious, or social goal. In terms of economic goals, the exclusive pursuit of profit does not satisfy this criterion. It must involve the pursuit of more profound, systemic economic change.

Success of a terrorist strike is defined according to the tangible effects of the attack.
