Incident Summary:

12/22/2019: Assailants abducted Dhir Bahadur Shahi, the chairperson of Thatikadh village council, and his wife in Thatikadh, Karnali, Nepal. His wife was released shortly after the kidnapping, and Shahi was rescued later the same day. The Communist Party of Nepal- Maoist (CPN-M) claimed responsibility for the attack, claiming that the victim had embezzled the local government budget and spied against the group.
