Incident Summary:
12/23/2019: Assailants opened fire on pro-government armed forces in Al-Mahfad district, Abyan, Yemen. Three soldiers were injured in the assault. This was one of two similar attacks in Abyan on this date. No group claimed responsibility for the incident; however, sources attributed the attack to the Southern Resistance Forces (SRF).

Criteria
Criteria 1
The act must be aimed at attaining a political, economic, religious, or social goal. In terms of economic goals, the exclusive pursuit of profit does not satisfy this criterion. It must involve the pursuit of more profound, systemic economic change.
