01/05/2020: An assailant attempted to stab police officers in Metz, Grand-Est, France. The assailant was injured when the officers opened fire and there were no other reported casualties. No group claimed responsibility for the incident; however, sources attributed the attack to a Muslim extremist. Sources noted that the assailant shouted "Allahu Akhbar" during the attack. Authorities suspected that the assailant had ties to militant groups.
