Incident Summary:

04/11/2020: Assailants kidnapped Amadou Kalossy from Koumaira, Timbuktu, Mali. Kalossy, a mayor, was released on May 10, 2020. No group claimed responsibility for the incident; however, sources attributed the attack to Jamaat Nusrat al-Islam wal Muslimin (JNIM). Sources noted that Kalossy had been attempting to negotiate the release of Soumaila Cisse, who was kidnapped by the group on March 25, 2020.
