Incident Summary:
04/28/2020: An assailant detonated an explosives-laden fuel tanker on a crowded street in Afrin, Aleppo, Syria. At least 40 people were killed and another 47 were injured in the blast. This was one of two similar attacks in Afrin on this date. No group claimed responsibility for the incident; however, sources attributed the attack to People's Protection Units (YPG), which they subsequently denied and returned blame on Turkish forces.

Criteria 1
The act must be aimed at attaining a political, economic, religious, or social goal. In terms of economic goals, the exclusive pursuit of profit does not satisfy this criterion. It must involve the pursuit of more profound, systemic economic change.
