05/01/2020: Assailants opened fire at a mosque in Amal, Dhamar, Yemen. The imam, Shawqi Jaber Muhammad Rifaan, was shot and killed in the attack. Houthi extremists (Ansar Allah) claimed responsibility for the incident and accused the victim of being a member of ISIL; however, sources claimed that the imam was targeted for holding prayers during the COVID-19 pandemic and providing services to locals.
