05/02/2020: Assailants opened fire on an Iraqi Volunteer Forces checkpoint in Mukashafah, Saladin, Iraq. Six volunteer fighters were killed in the attack. This was one of three coordinated incidents targeting the Iraqi Volunteer Forces in Saladin on this date. The Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) claimed responsibility for the attack and stated they were taking advantage of the "global security disruption" caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
