05/02/2020: Assailants abducted Drissa Sanogo, the Gourma-Rharous prefect, between Gourma-Rharous and Timbuktu in Timbuktu, Mali. The outcome of the kidnapping is unknown. No group claimed responsibility for the incident; however, sources attributed the attack to Jamaat Nusrat al-Islam wal Muslimin (JNIM) and suspected that the attack was related to recent election results.
