08/20/2020: A suicide bomber detonated an explosives-laden vehicle targeting a police checkpoint in Kandahar, Helmand, Afghanistan. In addition to the assailant, at least two police officers were killed and four other officers were injured in the blast. This was one of two attacks targeting Helmand on this date. The Taliban claimed responsibility for the incident.

Criteria 1
The act must be aimed at attaining a political, economic, religious, or social goal. In terms of economic goals, the exclusive pursuit of profit does not satisfy this criterion. It must involve the pursuit of more profound, systemic economic change.

Success of a terrorist strike is defined according to the tangible effects of the attack.
