Incident Summary:

09/06/2020: Assailants opened fire on houses in Burambi district, Rumonge, Burundi. Three people, including Imbonerakure official Leonidas Nibayubahe and teacher Therese Hagabimana, were killed and two others were injured in the attack. The Resistance to the Rule of Law in Burundi (Red-Tabara) claimed responsibility for the incident and stated that the attacks were part of an offensive against the "dictatorial ruling CNDD-FDD." Sources stated that the attacks were meant to show the new Burundian president "that [the Red-Tabara] exist and that he will have to deal with them."
