Incident Summary:
09/20/2020: Assailants opened fire on a convoy of buses along highway EN 1 between Nhamatanda and Chibabava districts, Sofala, Mozambique. Two civilians were killed and eight others were injured in the attack. This was one of two related attacks in the area on this day. No group claimed responsibility for the incident; however, sources attributed the attack to the Renamo Military Junta, who denied involvement.

Criteria
Criteria 1
The act must be aimed at attaining a political, economic, religious, or social goal. In terms of economic goals, the exclusive pursuit of profit does not satisfy this criterion. It must involve the pursuit of more profound, systemic economic change.

Success of a terrorist strike is defined according to the tangible effects of the attack.
