Incident Summary:

12/21/2020: Assailants abducted two Quippo Oil and Gas Infrastructure employees, Pranab Kumar Gogoi and Ram Kumar, from a drilling site in Khumchaikha, Arunachal Pradesh, India. Gogoi was released on April 3, 2021, and Kumar was released two days later on April 5, 2021. The United Liberation Front of Assam (ULFA) and the National Socialist Council of Nagaland-Khaplang (NSCN-K) jointly claimed responsibility for the incident and demanded a ransom for the release of the hostages. ULFA Commander-in-Chief, Paresh Baruah demanded the hostages' employer (Quippo Oil and Gas Infrastructure) must pay compensation for exploiting natural resources in the area, demanding the company stop operations in the region. Sources also attributed the attack to the National Socialist Council of Nagaland-Isak-Muivah (NSCN-IM).
