12/28/2020: An explosive device detonated targeting an Operation Barkhane vehicle near Hombori, Mopti, Mali. Three French soldiers were killed in the blast. Jamaat Nusrat al-Islam wal Muslimin (JNIM) claimed responsibility for the incident, and stated it was in response to French troops in Sahel countries and France's "mockery" of the Islamic Prophet.
